Principal UX Designer

Property management SaaS platform serving thousands of customers nationwide. Acquired by Inhabit in 2021.

BudgetsPro

Inherited highest-priority project in first month — leadership believed BudgetsPro was 70% complete. In reality, it was less than 5% — and what existed wasn’t viable. Took my assessment to the team first, then escalated to CTO and SVP of Product, secured expanded resources and near-daily working sessions with company co-founder throughout the seven-month project. Delivered for the client’s budget season deadline, retaining the company’s largest enterprise client. CEO highlighted BudgetsPro as a strategic achievement at a 400-person industry conference. Still prominently marketed 4+ years later.

Multi-Year Platform Strategy

Comprehensive platform redesign had been discussed for years but had never been funded. While delivering major initiatives, I built the case — 60 cross organizational interviews, multi-year Customer Advisory Board partnerships, full-scale Boardroom redesign, and in-depth scoping with risk analysis — so that when funding became available, the CEO had what she needed to secure board approval for the largest redesign in company history.

Design Systems

Built ResMan’s first-ever design system — for both the platform redesign and legacy product — enabling 4x faster design delivery and ending over a decade of duplicate development by creating shared infrastructure that hadn’t existed. Then led development of a unified design system across all 16 companies in Inhabit’s portfolio.

Additional Projects

Two of the larger efforts across five years: Bulk Renewals replaced a process so rudimentary that many clients built their own workarounds — created a guided workflow sophisticated enough to function as a standalone product, driving higher lease renewal rates. Onboarding Wizard replaced a labor-intensive, multi-step manual process that took weeks to months with guided, self-service workflows that compressed onboarding to hours or days.

Team Building

Managed two junior designers simultaneously — both produced strong work and grew in their roles. Created role requirements and led the hiring process, and was expanding the team further when company funding shifted priorities.

Telecom software and logistics company streamlining cellular network deployment across 90+ U.S. cities.

Hired as first lead designer. Worked daily with company co-founder on B2B web, mobile, and augmented reality concepts. Designs were used in pitches to a major national carrier. Position eliminated due to COVID-19 company-wide downsizing. Co-founder served as reference for subsequent Principal UX Designer role at ResMan.

Designed three products from the ground up — a B2B meeting collaboration platform, a B2C mobile app with a startup co-founder, and a task management app. Work attracted investor interest, including a proposal to explore redesigning a major shipping platform.

B2B collaboration platform for enterprise meeting facilitation. Fortune 500 adoption.

Process Overhaul

Joined as startup generalist with no design title. Identified a broken design process — written specifications creating months-long cycles and constant conflict with the overseas team. Created an interactive prototyping approach that transformed those cycles into weekly iterations and replaced the entire 3-5 person overseas design team as sole designer. The approach created the Lead Designer role, which I assumed in 2017.

Research

Conducted 65 interviews — current users, prospects, facilitators, and stakeholders. The research revealed the core experience wasn’t the problem — everything users struggled with was getting to it. That insight shaped a year-long platform redesign.

Platform Redesign

Led a year-long platform redesign that transformed every touchpoint around the core experience — streamlining multiple complex environments into intuitive spaces, replacing support-dependent setup with self-service, and turning time-consuming navigation into a single click. The platform gained Fortune 500 adoption and coverage in Forbes, Entrepreneur, and Inc. Design foundation remains in market 7+ years later.
